More bad news for California!

As we begin to head towards spring, more bad news appears on the horizon for California. High pressure systems over the Pacific Ocean have diverted much anticipated rain from California to the Pacific Northwest leaving the state much drier than predicted. This is the driest February in years and it is spelling out what could be dire consequences as California heads into the warmer part of the year.

Without necessary rain to build up snow reserves in the mountains, it will lead to a much warmer, drier summer and that leads to easier conditons for fires to occur. Since the year has begun, firefighters have had to face 280 smaller fires whereas last year they only face up against 87. With the lower than usual rainfall, it seems that fires loom in California's future.
